What is your role on the TEam?
Where did you study? List all that apply.
Why are you passionate about education and teacher development?
Education is equivalent to freedom. It can truly set you free. I like coaching teachers because the impact allows them to issue freedom-keys to their kids every day!
Describe a successful teaching strategy that you used in the classroom or that you frequently recommend to your teachers.
Routines and Procedures! I was a rock-star at creating effective and efficient systems for my kids. I used timers, classroom jobs, and incentives to ensure that we maximized instructional timeJ
If you had to describe your work on the TEam in three words, what would they be?
What advice would you have for an educator that aspires to become an instructional leader?
Stay humble! Stay hungry! And Teach ’em up! Yes, that’s TE’s latest slogan AND it applies to everyone in any professional position. See additional details below…
- Stay humble- (1) Seek feedback and implement it quickly. (2) Remember that our kids have more to offer us than we have to offer them.
- Stay hungry- (1) Show true grit in every pursuit. Become comfortable with being UNcomfortable. (2) If you need to improve in content knowledge, be proactive about professional development opportunities.
Teach ’em up- (1) Measure student’s growth AND your growth. All instructional leaders have to measure their effectiveness by our student’s gains. (2) Once a teacher, always a teacher. You may transition from schooling the little ones to schooling adults. Whatever the circumstance, be an effective teacher.
When you are not working on closing the achievement gap, what do you enjoy doing?
(1) Spending time with my family, (2) exercising and (3) trying new things (ie. gardening lol). It’s rejuvenatingJ
Which TE-shirt is your favorite and why?
My I TE shirt! I truly love our TEam. We challenge and support each other to reach our common goal; to become the premier learning institution for novice teachers.
