Induction: TEachers Take off Across Houston!

Today TEachers set out across Houston to complete a special Teaching Excellence scavenger hunt in the communities they will teach in this year. Knowing the community your students live in and connecting with people in that community is key to being successful in the classroom. See the great pictures below of TEachers exploring the KIPP, Spring Branch and YES Prep school communities across the city of Houston. Check out the rest of the awesome pictures from TEachers’ scavenger hunts on our Facebook page:!/groups/320056938070946/permalink/348387688571204/?comment_id=348389265237713&notif_t=like

Teachers met bright and early at 7:45am at their placement school to begin the scavenger hunt.

Some groups were even advantageous enough to make their way inside their school’s building.

Teachers needed to find several useful places in the communities they will teach in. One of the most important, of course, is a place to find coffee!

And maybe some more coffee…

Also important, a place to eat…

And you probably don’t want to run out of gas on your way to school….

Teachers found places that students and families in their school communities would visit frequently. Who doesn’t love ice-cream, smoothies, and nachos!

And don’t forget a place to play…

TEachers are now more familiar with the communities they will teach in this coming year…. and it looks like they had a lot of fun exploring as at the same time!

What is the most interesting/useful thing you found in your school community?
