I work as a Special Education Teacher with 6th-9th grade (primarily with 8th grade).

University of Houston- Majored in Art

What is the best part of teaching? What is the most difficult part of teaching?

The best part of teaching is that moment of discovery a student has when struggling through a problem.

The most difficult part is feeling that there is not enough time in the day to serve our students.

Describe a successful teaching strategy that you use in the classroom. How does this impact your students’ achievement?

I am a big advocate for the use of stations in a classroom. I believe stations are a great tool in serving students at various levels and providing opportunities for students to show mastery in different ways.

What 3 words would you use to describe the experience of participating in Teaching Excellence?

Challenging, Beneficial, Informative

When you are not working on closing the achievement gap, what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy art, watching movies, and playing my ukulele.

If you could create a t-shirt with a slogan that represents your philosophy of education, what would it say?

“Breathe it, Live it, Love it.”
