Molly Frye will take us on a tour of her campus. Continue reading to learn more about KIPP Legacy.
What is your name? What is your role on campus?
My name is Molly Frye, and I am a second grade teacher at KIPP Legacy.
What neighborhood is your school in?
Legacy is in the North Forest community in the Northeast area of Houston.
Describe your campus culture in three words.
Persist. Achieve. Team. Honor. (Sorry – had to do four – our school values!)
Where is your favorite place to work on campus?
My favorite place to work is one of my co-workers’ rooms during my planning period. By the time my planning period rolls around, I’m ready to see some new surroundings other than my own classroom.
What is one surprising or quirky fact about your campus?
My campus is actually a strip mall – home to an old skating rink, CVS, and a soul food restaurant. It’s now home to four KIPP schools.
What is your favorite annual event at school?
My favorite annual event at school to date has been the STAAR pep rally for our third graders. It was to help get our founding class pumped up for their first STAAR test and was a school-wide pep rally filled with cheers and dancing.
Where are some great places to eat nearby?
If you’re a fan of fast food, there is plenty of that nearby! There is also a great Mexican food restaurant down the street that occasionally caters tacos for our weekly professional development.
